This summer is proving to be an exciting one for the team at Roble Ventures. We are thrilled to introduce our exceptional group of summer interns for 2023: Yasmin Abdulhadi, Andy Vargas-Hernandez, Elizabeth Kim, and Tejas Hegde.

Chosen from a competitive pool of applicants, these talented individuals — two undergraduates, one MBA candidate, and one recent MBA graduate — will invigorate our team and contribute to our mission of nurturing innovative ideas and empowering visionary entrepreneurs.

Half of the Roble team happened to be in the same place at the same time, so we made the most of it! From left: Tejas Hegde, David Perez-Hernandez, and Andy Vargas-Hernandez.

With a focus on responsible and purposeful technology, Roble Ventures invests in early-stage human enablement startups striving to make a positive impact in work and learning. Our diverse cohort of interns, spanning various disciplines from computer science to business development, shares a passion for creating a better future through entrepreneurial endeavors.

Throughout the summer, these interns will be working on important projects to expand the capacities of the firm, allowing us to better serve our founders and figure out how to best leverage emerging technology.

Yasmin Abdulhadi | Kapor Fellow

Yasmin recently graduated from the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business. While at Ross, she interned with Bain & Company in the summer. During the academic year, she worked part-time on projects for the Cowrie Initiative's BankBlack USA team and the National Bankers Association.

Before attending the University of Michigan, Yasmin spent four years working in education through Teach for America in Memphis, TN. She taught elementary school in Memphis's Innovation Zone. In 2019, she transitioned to teach high school financial literacy at KIPP Memphis to continue her commitment to improving educational and economic equity.

"I am excited to work with a team who is passionate about human enablement and using emerging technology to create economic opportunities. I am especially excited to learn more about how HR-Tech can do so in various work environments."

In addition to teaching, Yasmin mentored young girls as a Kode with Klossy web development instructor, advancing women in STEAM fields. While working with EdTech startup Rhymes with Reason, she furthered her desire to address the racial wealth gap in the United States.

She enjoys exploring a new city or relaxing at coffee shops in her free time.

Andy Vargas-Hernandez | Kapor Fellow

Andy is an MBA candidate at The Wharton School. As a first-generation Mexican-American and first-generation college student, Andy is invested in helping bridge the socioeconomic divide and helping empower all humans in the next technological revolution. He has a deep passion for helping founders realize their ideas, sharing financial literacy advice, and forming lifelong relationships.

“I'm excited to work with such talented people who are mission-driven and care about leaving a mark. This summer I am looking forward to furthering investment in cutting-edge human enablement technology and applying AI tools to my day-to-day tasks.”

Coming to Roble, Andy brings a wide range of expertise in venture, strategy, M&A, capital markets, operations, and trading, having worked for Laconia Capital Group, Mission One Capital, Amazon.com, Marathon Petroleum Corporation, and UBS Investment Bank. He received his BBA from St. Mary's University.

During his free time, Andy enjoys teaching yoga, rowing, the outdoors, and traveling.

Elizabeth Kim | Venture Capital Marketing Intern

Elizabeth is currently pursuing a major in Economics as a rising sophomore at Wellesley College. During her previous academic year, Elizabeth had the privilege of working alongside a professor at MIT, conducting research on venture capital investments in Boston-based biotech and healthcare startups. She has spent this past spring completing a mentorship program with Goldman Sachs, where she expanded on her interest in finance and investment banking.

“I am thrilled about the opportunity to intern for Roble Ventures because of their exceptional track record in investing and supporting innovative startups. Their commitment to fostering entrepreneurship aligns perfectly with my passion for the startup ecosystem. I am excited to learn from their experienced team and contribute to the growth of their brand.”

Currently working with the MIT Office of Environmental Solutions, she channels her dedication towards fostering a greener future by working on impactful projects aimed at creating more sustainable practices within her college campus.

For fun, she loves spending time outdoors, with friends and family.

Tejas Hegde | Computer Science Intern

Tejas Hegde is a rising senior at Harvey Mudd College, pursuing a degree in Computer Science. He has a strong passion for technology and its potential to empower individuals. Tejas envisions himself working on projects that leverage technology to create intuitive, inclusive, and empowering experiences for users from diverse backgrounds.

Throughout his academic journey, Tejas has actively sought out opportunities to apply his technical skills to real-world challenges. Last summer, he interned at a startup called Upahara, which is a public-benefit corporation that aims to make philanthropy easier, more transparent, and more trustworthy.

“Roble Ventures’ mission seamlessly harmonizes with my own beliefs and objectives. I am excited to learn from the team and contribute by building software tools powered by AI.”

Tejas enjoys playing and watching soccer, hiking, and playing the guitar.
